“What are some of the Must-Haves to ensure the quality and longevity of my Pond?”
This is one of the most frequently asked questions we get at Premier Ponds by our customers. Just like with purchasing a new car, you can get heated leather seats, navigation and so much more. There are many different items we sell here at Premier Ponds to ensure you can enjoy your pond for years to come.
The Premier Ponds’ team is also a Certified Aquascape Contractor, which means we have extensive training, knowledge and experience in recommending and installing the right products for your pond. Today, we will talk about a few of these products we carry, the problem they solve and the estimated cost to install them.
Automatic Water-Fill Valve
Ponds can lose water in numerous ways such as small leaks, wicking from waterfalls, evaporation and small animals drinking from them. While most of us are aware of the need for proper filtration and water quality, we often overlook the importance of a good filling system when considering the health of our ponds and water gardens. How do you maintain the proper water levels in your pond?
This is where an automatic fill-valve comes in. An auto-fill is hooked up to a water source so that when the pond’s water level drops, fresh water enters the pond. A float is installed at the level of the water surface, as the float drops with the water a valve is opened allowing new water to enter the pond. You can read about automatic fill-valves and process of installation our team takes.
The cost of labor and materials for an automatic fill-valve varies from $300 to $1000.
Without the use of chemicals, the ionizer promotes safe and effective water clarification. An Ionizer uses a copper anode within your plumbing to release small amounts of copper into your water garden or feature. You will never complain about not being able to see your fish swimming around the pond. Alternatively, you could use pond UV lights, but we recommend not to to use it as they don’t filter the water at all.
At Premier Ponds, we use the ION Gen2 system and it costs around $1000 for labor and materials to install.
Pond LED Lighting
Another common request we get after a pond renovation or construction project is this: I love my new pond, but there are just not enough hours in the day to enjoy the pond.
That’s where LED lighting comes in. We all lead busy lifestyles and want to be able to enjoy and entertain during the evening hours, not just the daytime. In addition, during the night hours, having LED lights promotes safety of your pond by facilitating keeping an eye out and also helping visitors not falling into your pond.
The cost of LED lighting varies between $1500 to $5000 depending on your budget and the current state of the transformers available in your backyard.
Solids Handling Aquatic Pond Pump
What is a solid handling pump and why do I need it for my pond? This is another common question we get at Premier Ponds.
A solid handling pump promotes effective filtration by enabling water to flow constantly. Filtration is critical in keeping pond water healthy. Think of the solid handling pump as the heart of your pond. Just like the human heart delivers essential nutrients and oxygen by pumping blood throughout our bodies. With proper circulation and filtration, your pond plants and fish will thrive and it will improve your water quality. Picking the right pump for your pond can be tricky based on your size and pressure required.
Our Premier Ponds team also has extensive experience in troubleshooting a variety of pond pumps. A typical Pond pump with materials and labor will run around $1500.
